Placing an order

Every hat is carefully handmade to order in Sophie’s London studio using the finest couture techniques. If you would like to discuss purchasing a bespoke item or pieces from existing collections please contact Sophie.

You have the option to make an appointment at the south London studio or discuss a commission via email or telephone.

Sample sale items are ready to ship. Full payment will be due upon confirmation of your order for these items.

An invoice will be supplied and payment is usually made via bank transfer, however other options can be discussed.

Production times

Each hat takes hours, sometimes days to hand craft, so please allow three to four weeks for us to complete your order.

Shorter production times may be possible during quiet periods so please enquire if you would like something sooner.

Shipping and delivery times

Your hat will be carefully packaged and sent in a complimentary Sophie Beale hat box wrapped in brown paper.

UK – Hats are shipped through Royal Mail and a signature is required upon delivery to make sure your hat arrives safely. Deliveries usually take 1-3 days. There is a £12 fee for this service.

Rest of World – Prices vary depending on the size of your hat and destination. Please contact Sophie for a quote.


We hope that you will be happy with your purchase.

Every effort is made to create your order with the upmost care, however if your hat arrives faulty or damaged please get in touch with us within 3 days of receipt so we can make arrangements for a refund. Photographic proof of damage may be required.

Refunds are unavailable on items that have been specifically made for you. Please contact Sophie to discuss your hat requirements or arrange a fitting prior to placing your order if you are unsure about making a purchase.

Any returns must be unworn and the label must not have been removed.

If you would like to return an off the peg hat, we ask you to please inform us as soon as you decide not to wear it, prior to the planned hat wearing event so we can be sure the item has not been worn. If you would like to wear a hat once and prefer not to purchase it, pleaase enquire about hiring.

Due to the nature of this small business and the time it takes to prepare your order with care, we are unable to refund any postage and packing costs if your return is not faulty or damaged. Please get in touch to discuss this if neccessary.
